Urgent help requested for Helping the Homeless fighting cold in Muzaffarnagar Camps

Assalamualaikum brothers,

Imagine for a moment, in the chilling winter, if your family & your newborns are without the
Shelter / A.C., blankets, warm water / Cleanliness / electricity / Toilet / Privacy/ Oven / Food /Clean Water/ medicines. I wish, if each and every recipient of mine contributes to the cause without any excuse and fwd to others , and approach local
Masjids for fundraising using the flyers and appeals (as stated below).

There is a serious need for all human beings with a heart, to open their hearts towards the pitiable situation ( as described below) of widows, newborns, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, and contribute given the innumerable means available to us ( in form of contribution of money, blankets, provide immediate services as Doctors or Lawyers).
As per latest news on ibnlive  ibnlive confirms Zakat India as an NGO working on ground , Zakat India seems to be the verified organization working on ground for the victims in relief camps.
I recently talked to Zakat India representative Sir Imtiaz - +919818624930 working there on ground.
For money transfer, There are 2 main modes available ( India Net Banking  or sending cheque in US) both convenient for Indians and US residents.
Please fwd this blog to other groups and get immense help as much as possible.

Some of the multitude of problems faced by refugees in Camps are listed below:-

Watch these videos from ndtv, ibnlive to understand reality on ground, clearing many misconceptions
created by State Govt paid newspapers.

  • At the camp, 40km from Muzaffarnagar town, men uprooted leaving behind burnt homes, lost livelihoods, face a bleak future, especially those ineligible for the Rs 5-lakh UP government compensation.- Piyal Bhattacharjee
  • Life is cheap at the riot victims' camp here. In the past weeks, 11 children have died here; 74 pregnant women, 24 in advanced stages, battle malnutritionand skin disease; children amble barefoot in the cold, some not even in woollens; 85 girls have been married off as their parents thought it was the best way to save honour.
  • “My child died by a snake bite,” said Akbari, the mother of Saadil who succumbed to the snake bite. Five other infants, namely Fatima (4 years), Firdaus (6 days), Zoya (5 years), Firoz (20 days), Umar (9 days) also died in the same camp.
  • This Dec, Muzaffarnagar recorded a biting 0.6 celsius. The Loi camp, roughly the size of half a football field, is pitched under the open sky next to a canal and sugarcane fields. The tents hardly keep out the chill. When the temperature dips, dewdrops leak through the canvas and fall on people sleeping below. "Cold and hungry, children cry all night," says Hanifa Begum.
  • Armaan,3, wears only a cotton shirt and clings to a puppy for warmth. Most sleep on the floor with a sheet or dry sugarcane leaves for a mattress. "Bonfires provide some respite. But the kids are soon cold and crying again," says Gulfam Saifi, a 29-year-old blacksmith from Kharar village. It isn't just the cold that makes the babies cry. "Many ill-nourished mothers find it hard to breastfeed," says Shahnaz.
  • It's no place for grown-ups either. Some women say they haven't had a proper bath in weeks due to lack of privacy.
  • As sunlight fades, passageways between tents turn into open kitchens. The aroma of spice mingles with goat shit stink. Kids play with dogs. Men and children huddle around bonfires. "The fire is weak. It isn't easy to cook," Shafiqan complains. Tough rotis, sometimes eaten with pickle, form the staple food.
  • Ayesha's mother shakes one of the three small tins that make up her kitchen, hoping it will have some last few grains of sugar. The daily supply of 300 grams milk stopped over a week ago, so the Tea is always black.  Ayesha is four and her mother, 20, can only make her one glass of tea that must be drunk in small sips to last "as long as possible".
  • Little Ayesha moves through a crowd of children to get as close as possible to another fire. She has no shoes, and the fire is the only comfort for her tiny feet. Children claw at one another, trying to get close to the small pile of burning sticks. spark flies on to Ayesha's right foot. She screams and jumps back. A patch of brown skin has come off, leaving a reddening wound. Her mother rushes out with a dupatta and a bowl of water from the tubewell, her tears flowing. "It's a small burn. By morning it will be fine," says her grandmother.
  • small fire of dried leaves and sticks from sugarcane fields burns outside their tarpaulin tent, the only other comfort they have in the cold nights on the open fields.
  • "My 20 day old son died because he didn't have a blanket to cover him," says Murshida Begum who reached the camp with her husband and 4 children when the army evacuated Bhadal, her village in Muzaffarnagar. "Now two of my daughters have pneumonia and there are no cloths to cover them," she breaks down looking in the direction of the fresh graves of the dead children at the edge of the camp.
  •  For a camp of 3000 people, there are only two toilet blocks, now closed, opened for cameras to capture their appalling, over-clogged reality, most refugees use the surrounding fields. Unsanitary conditions of the camp, which pose a high risk, especially to the young. Dr Samir Zainal Abedin told us that he has seen 10-15 cases for diarrhoea . In a worrying conclusion, he says "a senior medical officer has come and told us that this is a kind of viral diarrhoea and can spread very fast and the main cause is unhygienic surroundings, environment. Mainly flies, water mainly."
  • Everywhere in the camp, there are swampy, garbage infested pits. Not far from them, children sift through the dirt looking for tiny pieces of firewood that will help them stay warm.
  • With a new diarrhoea outbreak looming, the icy cold, which has already claimed lives of the very young, still remains a threat. One of the last visitors to the medical tent was a four-month-old baby, crying in distress. "She has severe chest infection,"

20 Remedies to Treat Diabetes Naturally: One is Black seed

20 Remedies to Treat Diabetes Naturally: One is Black seed
Search for black seed oil on Amazon or Google

(NaturalNews) Kirt Tyson, former type I diabetic was interviewed by Mike Adams. In the interview Kirt Tyson revealed that his diet was completely raw with no fruits. He ate only vegetables, seeds and nuts. He cured his diabetes on this simple 30 day raw diet. The once debilitating disease can now be treated with going on a raw diet and making some life changing decisions. Not only can you go raw, but you can also use these eight natural herbs and remedies to survive diabetes.

There are many remedies available today and some work better than others. Like the raw diet, it all depends on your body and your genetics. No cure works one hundred percent of the time for everyone. A raw diet is only the beginning. Continuing to eat healthy for the rest of your life ensures that you too can be free of this disease returning.

Besides going raw and eliminating sugar out of your life, you must switch to raw milk or its alternatives. In the book, The Devil in the Milk, Dr. Kevin Woodford explains how the type of milk we drink, directly reflects of the high incidence of many diseases, including diabetes and cancers. There are many substitutes available from almond milk to oat milk. They are extremely healthy and easy to make.

Eight Types of Natural Remedies Available Today:
Buy Live Fig Tree
1. Fig Leaves

Fig leaves are best known for treating diabetes, but there are many other uses for the fig leaves. There are many homemade remedies from treating diabetes to treating bronchitis, genital warts, liver cirrhosis, high blood pressure, skin problems and ulcers. Fig leaves are not used as much as they should be. Most of the remedies for the fig leaves use the sap or the milk of the sacred tree. Fig tinctures or poultices should be used immediately and fresh batches made daily.

The big news with the use of fig leaves is that they have anti-diabetic properties. The diabetic needs less insulin when on a treatment of using the fig leaf extract. The diabetic should take the extract with breakfast, first thing in the morning. An additional remedy is to boil the leaves of the fig in some freshly filtered waster and drink this as a tea. Read the whole article on fig leaves and diabetes:

2. Black Seed

Black seed, also known as Nigella Sativa is a cure for all diseases, except death and considered to be a miraculous cure. It has been used for everything from acne to pancreatic cancers and doctors are raving about the results. Read about this remedy that has been used for over 2000 years.

For seven days take 6 teaspoons of the oil. Take the oil three different times of the day. Then take 2 teaspoons in the morning and 2 in the evening for 4 days. Follow by taking 2 teaspoons of the oil for two days. Take plenty of water in the morning and rub the oil all over the body for 10 days. You must mix the oil with fruit juice. Repeat this treatment if you do not see any improvement.

Another remedy for the treatment of diabetes is to take one half cup of the seeds that have been heated and a half cup of water cress seeds (mustard seeds can be substituted) and a 1/4 cup of ground pomegranate peel. Place these all in a blender and pulse well to a fine powder. Add in 1/8 cup of fumitory. Each day take one teaspoon of the ground powder and one teaspoon of the oil, one hour before you eat. Do this for at least one month.

3. Fenugreek -
मेथी

Take 5-30 grams with each meal or up to 90 grams once a day. Do not take more than 100 grams as it will cause an upset stomach and make a person nauseated. Fenugreek cannot be taken at the same time as other medicines. You must wait at least one hour and preferably two before taking fenugreek. Diarrhea and gas are common side effects of fenugreek.

Warnings about taking fenugreek: If you notice these side effects stop taking fenugreek right away: difficulty in breathing, tightness in chest, rash, swollen and itchy skin. Also if you are pregnant, consult your physician before taking fenugreek.
4. Cinnamon - दालचीनी

Cinnamon has long been reported as a good source for the treatment of diabetes, due to a study done in 2003 by Khan and associates. 60 people were tested in the group and one third of the group was given a placebo. The end results were very impressive and the overall health of the group was increased with glucose down 18 percent; LDL cholesterol and triglycerides also showed reduced levels. Everyone was excited and the word of using cinnamon spread.

According to Cancer Tutor.com, "At least 1/2 teaspoon a day, which is critical to "soften" the cell membranes. Cinnamon mimics insulin, thus it may lower your need for insulin immediately."

5. Grape seed Extract

Grape seed extract has been proven to improve the conditions associated with this disease. Grape seed performed greatly in studies conducted in 2006 in Toyama Japan, in 2009 in Romania and also in Portsmouth UK. Grape seed was successful in protecting the liver cells and setting up defense mechanisms against reactive oxygen species produced by hyperglycemic conditions.

Grape seed comes in capsules of 50-100mg. It is usually suggested to take 50mg per 50 lbs of weight, not to exceed 300mg per day. Whole grape seeds are the best alternative, which need to be ground and placed in vegetarian capsules. Taking 3 capsules a day is enough. The time of day does not matter.

6. Olive Oil

The Department of Health Sciences of the University of Jaen is researching the correlation between preventing diabetes and the consumption of olive oil. Through research, they have found that an oil rich diet may prevent diabetes. By using olive oil, you can reduce your blood levels including LDL and triglycerides.

By olive oil reducing the cholesterol levels, you can prevent such diseases as cardiovascular, atherosclerosis and diabetes. Prevention of diabetes begins with weight management and proper diet. The Mediterranean diet has been shown beneficial in the treatment of diabetes by using olive oil, which is monounsaturated instead of saturated fats.

Before sleeping drink 1/4 cup of olive oil. If you prefer to use lecithin, mix one tablespoon of lecithin with one tablespoon of olive oil. Keep in mind that one cup of olive oil has 2000 calories. Just because it is healthy does not mean a person can ignore the calorie intake.

To learn how olive oil cures over 60 diseases, read this article:

7. Bitter Melon - (
karela)

Researchers have proven that bitter melon works great with the treatment of diabetes. It contains insulin like properties which help in the lowering of the blood and urine levels. It is suggested to be used frequently.

The bitter melon should be juiced and then taken on an empty stomach before eating first thing in the morning. The seeds may be ground to a powder and eaten also. You can also, make a tea from the bitter melon.

8. Vitamin C and Diabetes

Researchers have found that using from 100-600mg of vitamin C daily can cause you to normalize your sugar levels, in as little as one month. Diabetics have a complication of too much sugar, sorbitol, in the body, which eventually leads to eye and nerve damage.
9) Neem
Neem, a tree that is believed to have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal property, has anti-diabetic properties as well. Neem leaf extracts and seeds are used as an active ingredient as an effective cure for diabetes. It has been scientifically proven after a number of tests and research by leading medical institutes, that neem parts have high efficacy in treating the disease. Neem leaf extracts improve the blood circulation by dilating the blood vessels and also helpful in reducing the need for hypo-glycaemic drugs. It has been found to reduce insulin requirements by up to 50%.

10) Indian Gooseberry - आमला
Amla the common man’s fruit that is rich in vitamin C also has hypoglycemic properties. The fruit when taken orally helps to reduce the sugar level by stimulating insulin production within 30 minutes of consumption. The researchers found that oxidative stress markers reduced by 23% in those who took 250 mg of extract and 28% in group who took 500 mg extract.

11) Jamun
This is a seasonal berry that is not available all through the year. It is a rich source of vitamin A and C, 100 grams of this fruit consumed per day can do wonders to the blood glucose levels. A teaspoon of dried seeds powder is advised to take in early morning first thing in empty stomach, to reduce high blood sugar. in addition, it helps to reduce the insulin dose.

12) Vinegar
Many may not include vinegar in their regular diet. But this again helps diabetics to reduce the sugar concentration in the blood. Add vinegar to foods that can be palatable with this ingredient. Two spoons of vinegar before food helps in the reduction of glucose influx.

13) Oysters
Oysters may have no direct effect in reducing the blood glucose level. But, as a rich source of zinc, they help to promote wound healing in diabetics. Thus, it is advisable for diabetics to include oysters in their diet for better wound healing capability.

14) Papaya
It is recommended to consume papaya on a daily basis as it has natural blood sugar controlling capability that helps to control diabetes by and large. It is also a rich source of vitamin C and anti-oxidants along with carotenes and flavonoids.

15)
Aloe Vera
This is a very common plant grown in most households. It has been widely used for medical and cosmetic properties for centuries. Recent studies prove that it has hypoglycemic characteristics, and can reduce high blood sugar levels. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that promote wound healing. Mix one to two teaspoons of ground bay leaves, one teaspoon of turmeric and one teaspoon of aloe vera gel. Drink this solution daily, before lunch and dinner. Or you can take aloe gel with buttermilk to improve the taste.

16) Mango
The leaves of the mango tree are believed to have anti-diabetic properties. The leaf extracts need to be administered at least 60 minutes before food consumption then only the desired effect can be seen. It helps to reduce the intestinal glucose absorption, which is the reason behind its anti-diabetic effect.

17) Holy Basil
This is a medicinal plant, which is also considered holy by many Indians right from ancient times. It is recommended to extract the juice from the leaves and consume it. A daily habit of eating fresh leaves from the garden after washing has tremendous effects on the body. Basil leaves bring about a significant reduction in the blood glucose level. Apart from that, this leaf also has anti-stress, anti-asthmatic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, gastric anti-ulcer, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, anti-tumor, anti-mutagenic and immuno-stimulant properties.

18) Lady's Finger This most sought out vegetable is rich in soluble fibers. It helps to slow down the absorption of glucose from the intestine. Soak one lady's finger slit in the middle in a glass of water overnight and consume it on an empty stomach. Done over a month, it reduces the blood glucose level to a great extent.

19) Beans
Beans help to slow down the digestion process thereby preventing the rise in blood glucose level. Beans give a feeling of fullness to the stomach and satiety is reached early.

20)
Garlic
This is a common kitchen staple known to every family and is extensively used in everyday cooking. Everyone is aware of the cholesterol-reducing effect of garlic; few people know about its anti-diabetic effect. The chemical Allicin in garlic is believed to have hypoglycemic effects. Studies have found that garlic might protect against heart disease in the general population as well as help control abnormally high blood sugar levels in diabetics.

Home Made Remedies

It should be noted that there are no case studies about these home remedies, only people testifying to their personal success.

1. Avocado
seed

Take one avocado seed and grill the seed. Slice the seed into several chunks. Add this to a pot of water and bring to boil, wait till the water turns brown. Strain the water mixture and drink when cool. Expect to see results within two weeks.

2.Apples

Take one apple and cut into chunks. Place the apple in a pan with 4 cups of water and bring to boil and cook until the water is reduced in half. Drink this morning and night. It is expected to show relief within two months.

Diabetes does not have to be a life threatening disease. It is possible and probable with natural remedies to allow the patient to live a normal and healthy life.

GMOs and Autism, Gastrointestinal and Immune disorders, Infertility

Assalamualaikum !

Our Children are an Amanah (trust) from Allah, so we must be careful with that trust, as we will face Allah one day and answer for the choices we made.

On May 19th, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called for a moratorium on GM foods, long-term independent studies, and labeling. AAEM's position paper stated, "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food," including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. They concluded "The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies."

Dr. Amy Dean, a Michigan internal medicine specialist, and board member of AAEM says, "I strongly recommend patients eat strictly non-genetically modified foods."

Ohio allergist Dr. John Boyles says "I used to test for soy allergies all the time, but now that soy is genetically engineered, it is so dangerous that I tell people never to eat it."

World renowned biologist Pushpa M. Bhargava goes one step further. After reviewing more than 600 scientific journals, he concludes that "genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are a major contributor to the sharply deteriorating health of Americans."

biologist David Schubert of the Salk Institute warns that "children are the most likely to be adversely effected by toxins and other dietary problems" related to GM foods. He says without adequate studies, the children become "the experimental animals."[2]

AAEM states, "Multiple animal studies show significant immune dysregulation," including increase in cytokines, which are "associated with asthma, allergy, and inflammation"—all on the rise in the US.

According to GM food safety expert Dr. Arpad Pusztai, "changes in the immune status of GM animals are a consistent feature of all the studies."[15] Even Monsanto's own research showed significant immune system changes in rats fed Bt corn.[16] A November 2008 by the Italian government also found that mice have an immune reaction to Bt corn.[17]

Scientists at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had warned about all these problems even in the early 1990s. According to documents released from a lawsuit, the scientific consensus at the agency was that "GM foods were inherently dangerous, and might create hard-to-detect allergies, poisons, gene transfer to gut bacteria, new diseases, and nutritional problems."

Famed Canadian geneticist David Suzuki answers, "The experiments simply haven't been done and we now have become the guinea pigs."

AAEM states, "GM foods have not been properly tested" and "pose a serious health risk. Not a single human clinical trial on GMOs has been published.

A 2007 review of published scientific literature on the "potential toxic effects/health risks of GM plants" concludes his review by asking, "Where is the scientific evidence showing that GM plants/food are toxicologically safe, as assumed by the biotechnology companies?"

Dr. Schubert points out, "If there are problems, we will probably never know because the cause will not be traceable and many diseases take a very long time to develop."

Citizens need not wait for the results before taking the doctors advice to avoid GM foods. People can stay away from anything with soy or corn derivatives, cottonseed and canola oil, and sugar from GM sugar beets—unless it says organic or "non-GMO." There is a pocket Non-GMO Shopping Guide, co-produced by the Institute for Responsible Technology and the Center for Food Safety, which is available as a download, as well as in natural food stores and in many doctors' offices.

"BT cotton may be a good source of income for resourceful farmers who can bear the heavy cost of BT cotton seeds and associated farm care but, BT cotton is also found to contain Hydrogen Cyanide (A Deadly Poison for Nearly All Biological Systems) by scientifc investigation. Dr Sudhir Kumar Kaura, a Biotechnologist and Plant Geneticist brings the inside story of the hell in villages created by BT cotton in North India: Animals are dying or becoming unproductive and fail to reproduce; humans are slowly coming under the toxic grips of BT cotton allergy and possible poisoning.

10 Reasons to Avoid GMOs, courtesy of international bestselling author and GMO expert Jeffrey Smith from The Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT). This list of ten facts and supporting text clearly explain just how serious a threat GM food and crops pose to our personal health as well as the health of the planet.
1. GMOs are unhealthy. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) urges doctors to prescribe non-GMO diets for all patients. They cite animal studies showing organ damage, gastrointestinal and immune system disorders, accelerated aging, and infertility. Human studies show how genetically modified (GM) food can leave material behind inside us, possibly causing long-term problems. Genes inserted into GM soy, for example, can transfer into the DNA of bacteria living inside us, and that the toxic insecticide produced by GM corn was found in the blood of pregnant women and their unborn fetuses.
Numerous health problems increased after GMOs were introduced in 1996. The percentage of Americans with three or more chronic illnesses jumped from 7% to 13% in just 9 years; food allergies skyrocketed, and disorders such as autism, reproductive disorders, digestive problems, and others are on the rise. Although there is not sufficient research to confirm that GMOs are a contributing factor, doctors groups such as the AAEM tell us not to wait before we start protecting ourselves, and especially our children who are most at risk.
The American Public Health Association and American Nurses Association are among many medical groups that condemn the use of GM bovine growth hormone, because the milk from treated cows has more of the hormone IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1)―which is linked to cancer.

2. GMOs contaminate―forever.
GMOs cross pollinate and their seeds can travel. It is impossible to fully clean up our contaminated gene pool. Self-propagating GMO pollution will outlast the effects of global warming and nuclear waste. The potential impact is huge, threatening the health of future generations. GMO contamination has also caused economic losses for organic and non-GMO farmers who often struggle to keep their crops pure.

3. GMOs increase herbicide use.
Most GM crops are engineered to be “herbicide tolerant”―they defy deadly weed killer. Monsanto, for example, sells Roundup Ready crops, designed to survive applications of their Roundup herbicide.
Between 1996 and 2008, US farmers sprayed an extra 383 million pounds of herbicide on GMOs. Overuse of Roundup results in “superweeds,” resistant to the herbicide. This is causing farmers to use even more toxic herbicides every year. Not only does this create environmental harm, GM foods contain higher residues of toxic herbicides. Roundup, for example, is linked with sterility, hormone disruption, birth defects, and cancer.
4. Genetic engineering creates dangerous side effects.
By mixing genes from totally unrelated species, genetic engineering unleashes a host of unpredictable side effects. Moreover, irrespective of the type of genes that are inserted, the very process of creating a GM plant can result in massive collateral damage that produces new toxins, allergens, carcinogens, and nutritional deficiencies.

5. Government oversight is dangerously lax.
Most of the health and environmental risks of GMOs are ignored by governments’ superficial regulations and safety assessments. The reason for this tragedy is largely political. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), for example, doesn’t require a single safety study, does not mandate labeling of GMOs, and allows companies to put their GM foods onto the market without even notifying the agency. Their justification was the claim that they had no information showing that GM foods were substantially different. But this was a lie. Secret agency memos made public by a lawsuit show that the overwhelming consensus even among the FDA’s own scientists was that GMOs can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects. They urged long-term safety studies. But the White House had instructed the FDA to promote biotechnology, and the agency official in charge of policy was Michael Taylor, Monsanto’s former attorney, later their vice president. He’s now the US Food Safety Czar.

6. The biotech industry uses “tobacco science” to claim product safety.

Biotech companies like Monsanto told us that Agent Orange, PCBs, and DDT were safe. They are now using the same type of superficial, rigged research to try and convince us that GMOs are safe. Independent scientists, however, have caught the spin-masters red-handed, demonstrating without doubt how industry-funded research is designed to avoid finding problems, and how adverse findings are distorted or denied.
7. Independent research and reporting is attacked and suppressed.
Scientists who discover problems with GMOs have been attacked, gagged, fired, threatened, and denied funding. The journal Nature acknowledged that a “large block of scientists . . . denigrate research by other legitimate scientists in a knee-jerk, partisan, emotional way that is not helpful in advancing knowledge.” Attempts by media to expose problems are also often censored
8. GMOs harm the environment.
GM crops and their associated herbicides can harm birds, insects, amphibians, marine ecosystems, and soil organisms. They reduce bio-diversity, pollute water resources, and are unsustainable. For example, GM crops are eliminating habitat for monarch butterflies, whose populations are down 50% in the US. Roundup herbicide has been shown to cause birth defects in amphibians, embryonic deaths and endocrine disruptions, and organ damage in animals even at very low doses. GM canola has been found growing wild in North Dakota and California, threatening to pass on its herbicide tolerant genes on to weeds.
9. GMOs do not increase yields, and work against feeding a hungry world.
Whereas sustainable non-GMO agricultural methods used in developing countries have conclusively resulted in yield increases of 79% and higher, GMOs do not, on average, increase yields at all. This was evident in the Union of Concerned Scientists’ 2009 report Failure to Yield―the definitive study to date on GM crops and yield.

The International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD) report, authored by more than 400 scientists and backed by 58 governments, stated that GM crop yields were “highly variable” and in some cases, “yields declined.” The report noted, “Assessment of the technology lags behind its development, information is anecdotal and contradictory, and uncertainty about possible benefits and damage is unavoidable.” They determined that the current GMOs have nothing to offer the goals of reducing hunger and poverty, improving nutrition, health and rural livelihoods, and facilitating social and environmental sustainability.
On the contrary, GMOs divert money and resources that would otherwise be spent on more safe, reliable, and appropriate technologies.
10. By avoiding GMOs, you contribute to the coming tipping point of consumer rejection, forcing them out of our food supply.
Because GMOs give no consumer benefits, if even a small percentage of us start rejecting brands that contain them, GM ingredients will become a marketing liability. Food companies will kick them out. In Europe, for example, the tipping point was achieved in 1999, just after a high profile GMO safety scandal hit the papers and alerted citizens to the potential dangers. In the US, a consumer rebellion against GM bovine growth hormone has also reached a tipping point, kicked the cow drug out of dairy products by Wal-Mart, Starbucks, Dannon, Yoplait, and most of America’s dairies.
Jeffrey M. Smith is the director of the Institute for Responsible Technology and is one of the world’s leading advocates against GM foods. His book Seeds of Deception is rated the number one book on the subject and has had a substantial influence on public perception and even legislation. Smith has reached tens of millions of people through hundreds of media interviews. He is also the author ofGenetic Roulette: The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods

Former Navy Scientist Exposes Health Hazards of Glyphosate
Former US Navy staff scientist Dr. Nancy Swanson has a Ph.D. in physics, holds five US patents and has authored more than 30 scientific papers and two books on women in science. Ten years ago, she became seriously ill, and in her journey to regain her health she turned to organic foods. Not surprisingly (for those in the know) her symptoms dramatically improved. This prompted her to start investigating genetically engineered foods.
She has meticulously collected statistics on glyphosate usage and various diseases and conditions, including autism. A more perfect match-up between the rise in glyphosate usage and incidence of autism is hard to imagine... To access her published articles and reports, please visit http://sustainablepulse.com/ a European website dedicated to exposing the hazards of genetically engineered foods.
According to Dr. Swanson:4
“Prevalence and incidence data show correlations between diseases of the organs and the increase in Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in the food supply, along with the increase in glyphosate-based herbicide applications. More and more studies have revealed carcinogenic and endocrine disrupting effects of Roundup at lower doses than those authorized for residues found in Genetically Modified Organisms.”
“The endocrine disrupting properties of glyphosate can lead to reproductive problems: infertility, miscarriage, birth defects, and sexual development. Fetuses, infants and children are especially susceptible because they are continually experiencing growth and hormonal changes. For optimal growth and development, it is crucial that their hormonal system is functioning properly.
The endocrine disrupting properties also lead to neurological disorders (learning disabilities (LD), attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), autism, dementia, Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder). Those most susceptible are children and the elderly.”

The Link Between Your Gut and the Toxicity of Glyphosate

The impact of gut bacteria on your health is becoming increasingly more well-understood and widely known. And here, we see how your gut bacteria once again play a crucial role in explaining why and how glyphosate causes health problems in both animals and humans. The authors explain:
“Glyphosate’s claimed mechanism of action in plants is the disruption of the shikimate pathway, which is involved with the synthesis of the essential aromatic amino acids, phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan. The currently accepted dogma is that glyphosate is not harmful to humans or to any mammals because the shikimate pathway is absent in all animals.
However, this pathway is present in gut bacteria, which play an important and heretofore largely overlooked role in human physiology through an integrated biosemiotic relationship with the human host. In addition to aiding digestion, the gut microbiota synthesize vitamins, detoxify xenobiotics, and participitate in immune system homeostasis and gastrointestinal tract permeability. Furthermore, dietary factors modulate the microbial composition of the gut.”
As noted in the report, incidences of inflammatory bowel diseases and food allergies have substantially increased over the past decade. According to a recent CDC survey, one in 20 children now suffer from food allergies2 — a 50 percent increase from the late 1990’s. Incidence of eczema and other skin allergies have risen by 69 percent and now affect one in eight kids. Samsel and Seneff argue it is reasonable to suspect that glyphosate’s impact on gut bacteria may be contributing to these diseases and conditions. They point out that:
“...Our systematic search of the literature has led us to the realization that many of the health problems that appear to be associated with a Western diet could be explained by biological disruptions that have already been attributed to glyphosate.
These include digestive issues, obesity, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, Parkinson’s disease, liver diseases, and cancer, among others. While many other environmental toxins obviously also contribute to these diseases and conditions, we believe that glyphosate may be the most significant environmental toxin, mainly because it is pervasive and it is often handled carelessly due to its perceived nontoxicity.
...[T]he recent alarming increase in all of these health issues can be traced back to a combination of gut dysbiosis, impaired sulfate transport, and suppression of the activity of the various members of the cytochrome P450 (CYP) family of enzymes.”

Key points of the video:
  1. Genetically modified foods are often developed to be resistant to Roundup herbicide.
  2. Monsanto tell us that Roundup is harmless to humans because it kills plants by disrupting a metabolical pathway that does not exist in humans. However, Dr. Seneff reveals that Roundup causes nutritional deficiencies and toxins in the system.  It causes these problems by affecting gut bacteria, which we need for good nutrition, health and to fight disease.  The good gut bacteria DO CONTAIN the metabolic pathway (that makes essential amino acids VITAL to health) that Roundup blocks, so they get killed, allowing pathogenic bacteria to proliferate.  These pathogens then produce toxins that cause serious problems.
  3. Autism rates in the US have skyrocketed to 1 child in 50.  In 20 years, every other boy will probably be diagnosed with autism.  Dr. Seneff argues that this increase has to be environmental.
  4. Farmers are having to use increasing amounts of glyphosate as weeds become resistant.  Glyphosate is now found in the air, rain, blood of pregnant women and their unborn fetus.
  5. Autistic kids usually have gut problems.
  6. Sulfur deficiency is a key factor in all modern health problems we are having.  Autistic kids have 1/3 of the levels of normal kids.  Glyphosate disrupts sulfur transport and the sulfate metabolism by affecting gut bacteria.
  7. Glyphosate disrupts the pathway in gut bacteria that make essential amino acids, and therefore the gut bacteria start producing other products in high volume, and many of these are toxic.
  8. There are bacteria that can break down glyphosate, but in the process, they make ammonia.  Ammonia is toxic (and a gas, therefore easily moved around the body).  Autistic kids have higher levels of ammonia in their blood stream.
  9. Formaldehyde is extremely toxic (wrecks DNA and can cause cancer), and it is made inside our bodies because of glyphosate.
  10. Glyphosate gets into the liver and disrupts the enzymes (cytochrome P450) that detoxify our bodies.  Not only is is creating toxins in the body, but it disables the breakdown of toxins.
  11. When Monsanto approves a new GMO crop, the government has to INCREASE the allowed residue level of the herbicide.  Essentially that means that crops are requiring more and more of the herbicide as time goes by.  The glyphosate is in the plants that animals eat, so animals get the glyphosate in their bodies as well.
The video then goes on to discuss how glyphosate can cause a range of diseases.  Here are the times in the video that relate to the diseases:
Alzheimer’s Disease – 21:51
Parkinson’s Disease – 32:08
Multiple Sclerosis /Leaky gut – 41:09
Obesity – 59:18
Diabetes – 1:01:14

Islamic Dates 2013: Avoiding multiple dates for Essential Events (Ramadhan and EIDs) in North America

Assalamu Alaikum (Peace be upon you)!

Please do forward to all your friends for awareness and knowledge sharing.

"And say: My Lord increase me in knowledge."(Qur'an, Ta-Ha 20:114)

Ramadhan is only 2 weeks left. This year like previous years, would most surely witness different dates for Islamic Festivals.  Muslims are majorly bothered about the three major Islamic Events i.e. Ramadhan, Shawwal, Haj, whose starting dates are of paramount importance to them. Having said that, it needs to be stressed that this year in 2013, all these 3 events are most surely expected to be celebrated on 2 different dates this year 2013, in same geographical area particularly North America
The Saudi Calendar & ISNA/FCNA Calendars are not based on calculations for Hilal Visibility, instead they refer "New Moon Dates" Chart. As per New Moon Dates Charts, ISNA has already declared these dates for  Ramadhan, Shawwal, Haj respectively i.e.

Now when we try to see Visibility Graphs of the night before these event Dates of ISNA, we see that there is almost negligible chances of visibility of moon on the previous nights in North America ( See below)
i.e. Nights for July 08 for Ramadhan, August 07 for Shawwal, October 5 for Haj

Above, if any layperson who can clearly see North America and the Red Curve around it, and who believes in the Astronomical accuracies,
would certainly think twice, thrice or more, before celebrating an event at a wrong date.

Alllah says in Quran   "Verily, your hearing, sight, and heart -- all of them will be called to account" (Quran 17:36).

Points to Ponder :-
  • Islam is a strong proponent of using reasoning in every affair, considering the dynamics of issues, people face in different places and times.
  • Previous Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Bin Baz is reported to have ruled: As for those who say that it is necessary to follow the sighting of Makkah, then let it be known to them, that there is no proof or basis for this in the Qur’aan and Hadith”. (Sheikh Abdullah bin Baz RA AlBa’ath ul Islaaami Zil Hijjah 1399 Hijri)
  • Every year the astronomers, the people who know, publish their calculations that predict the first day of Ramadan or Eid with 99% accuracy, but mostly many countries (partiularly MiddleEast) start Ramadan or Eid, one day before the predicted day! Is it possible that the astronomers could be wrong every year? No as Allah has created the solar system subjected to precise calculations: "… The sun and the moon (are subjected) to calculations." (The Qur’an 55:5)
  • "When you see the crescent (of the month of Ramadan), start fasting, and when you see the crescent (of the month of Shawwal), stop fasting; and if the sky is overcast (and you can't see It), then complete thirty days (of Sha'baan/Ramadhan)". This gives a Muslim the flexibility to wait instead of jumping to act upon and accept hasty sightings in Saudi or pre-calculated calendar.
  • It is understood from Fiqh that any form of Ibaadah is unacceptable before the due time, but is accepted if it is performed later than schedule time due to any valid excuse and the responsibility of fulfilling that ibaadah is discharged. e.g.
    • Zuhr Salaah 2 min before Zawal will not be accepted under any circumstances at all. But if it was prayed late close to Asar time, it would be accepted and no sin committed if there was a valid excuse.

    • Qurbani can be made on the 11th or 12th, but under no circumstances can it be made on the 9th.
    • If fast or Eid is celebrated before time it will not be accepted, but if there is a delay because of sighting failure of moon, this Ibaadah will be accepted and the responsibility discharged.
    • It's permissible for those who believe in the incorrect early date to still delay and pray Eid on "their second day", Insha'Allaah, since the Eid prayers are permissible on any of the 3 days ? But those who follow the correct date can't pray a day 1 day early after making sure, moon was not sighted.
Consequences of premature announcements ( in Saudi or elsewhere)
    • Wrong Miqaat (Eid al-Fitr on the last day of Ramadan, and Adha on 9th D.Hijja)
    • Wrong Lailatul Qadr (Night of Power prayers). When do the possible nights of Laylatul Qadr (Nights of Power) fall (since one group’s odd days will be another’s even)? more->
    • Wrong day of Hajj (7th or 8th of D. Hijja, and Eid al-Adha on 9th of D. Hijja)
    • Missing the day of Allah’s forgiveness from Samaa-al-Dunya
    • Invalid sacrifice (on 8th or 9th of D. Hijja)
    • Wrong Tashreeq days (from 8th to 11th, instead of 9th- 13th)
    • Wrong Arafah day fast (on 7th or 8th of D. Hijja)

Why use Calculations in the first place?
JazakAllah Khayran
